The main issue is that, other from the aforementioned sky high skirmishes, the game is simply boring. In air-to-air missions, the opposing AI is often rather good. I like flying combat games, and nothing beats going toe-to-toe with other pilots, waiting for the lock-on tone before launching a missile or shredding their plane with a hail of bullets. The sole exciting aspect of the game is the dogfighting missions.

Missions are restricted to "clear this/that region" and "go here and kill X amount of Y." The problem is that Air Conflicts: Vietnam isn't particularly exciting. Air Conflicts might be fascinating - and maybe enjoyable - if it weren't for clumsy controls, bugs, an excessively derivative music, and a storyline that heaps scorn on the United States and, by extension, the player.Īpart from the battle, the game has virtually little plot unlike in games like Ace Combat 7 from the Ace Combat series. The player's mission is to participate in missions designed to help the military's efforts to prevent the spread of Communism in the region.

Gameplay in Air Conflicts: VietnamĪir Conflicts is a flying simulator similar to Microsoft Flight Simulator set during the Vietnam Combat, from America's position as "advisers" to full-fledged war. Taking the player away from the gun and into the sky appears to be a nice approach to alleviate the uneasiness of representing Vietnam in a video game, but make no mistake, you're still murdering people even from 3,000 miles in the air.

Air Conflicts: Vietnam avoids the first-person shooter style by placing the player in the skies, piloting America's arsenal of jets and attack helicopters.
